During the Sundays between Epiphany and Lent we’ve been listening to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount from the Gospel of Matthew.  His sermon takes up 3 chapters (5, 6, and 7) in the gospel.  This week, we hear him say that having a right relationship with God is predicated on having a right relationship with our neighbor (i.e. a friend, relative, etc.).  In other words, it’s hard to say we love God if we’re holding a grudge against someone.  Our worship of God rings hollow if we’re holding onto anger and resentment.  We need to let it go and practice forgiveness.  While this is easier said than done, it’s an important lesson to hear and to try to put into practice.  I hope to see you in church this Sunday.  ~Annie
