Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 2:15PM "Lord, I'm so glad I'm not like (insert name here) . . ."
And so prayed the puffed-up Pharisee to God. So true confession time, who among us hasn't thanked God at least once in our lives that we aren't like (insert name here)? It's at times like this that my Mom likes to remind me to "be humble". Good advice, for sure. But is that all there is to the story? Um, I think not. But to learn more, you'll have to come on Sunday-which I hope you'll do!
Next Sunday (Oct. 31) we'll celebrate Reformation Sunday. Get ready to post your theses to the church door! A guest trumpeter will accompany the choir and hymns this Sunday.
On November 7, All Saint's Sunday, we'll recognize those in our congregation who have joined the great communion of saints.
And on November 21, we'll enjoy a Thanksgiving Service followed by this year's Do Unto Others Thanksgiving Lunch and Christmas Giving Tree.
