The Steeple is Up!

Wait until you see it!  It's beautiful.  Pictures (compliments of Bernie Davis) can be found here.  A big thank you to the Building Team and especially Jim Gerst for leading us through this important project.  A big thank you, too, to everyone who has donated to the capital campaign-these are your dollars at work!

We'll start outside if the weather cooperate with our procession of palms.  From there you'll get to admire our bright, new, shiny steeple, too!

Upcoming Events

Don't forget the Easter Egg Hunt for Children on Saturday, April 3, 11:00 am at the Old Meeting House.  Children grades 5 and younger are invited to participate.  Bring a basket!  We still need eggs and lots of them!  You can drop them off anytime.  There is a box in the Gathering Space labeled "eggs".

The Passover Seder meal is Thursday, April 1 at 7:00 pm.  Cantors from Central Reformed Congregation will lead us in the Seder.  This is a fun meal and is appropriate for all ages.  And yes, we will have dinner-brisket, side dishes, and traditional Seder elements will be served.  Reservation deadline is Sunday, March 28.  Sign-up in the Gathering Space or e-mail Annie at pastor@faithdesperes.org  Thank you.

Morning Worship, 10:30 am

The title of this Sunday's sermon: "The Trouble With Big Brothers".  Are you a big brother?  Or maybe you're a younger brother or sister or older sister?  No matter, this Sunday we get to hear the story of the prodigal son.  You know the one, it's about the good for nothing younger brother who ran off and squandered his father's inheritance, went broke, returned home and when he did his father welcomed him with open arms and threw him a huge party!  His older brother, though, thought the party was a little over the top.  His older brother was faithful and obedient.  That younger brother didn't deserve a party!  I mean, c'mon, a party?  Where's the fatherly scolding?  The stern look?  The "I told you so"?  Are we really supposed to welcome some good-for-nothing person into our lives with open arms and a party?  Well, yes we are. At least according to Jesus we are.  Come Sunday and listen and learn.
