Sunday Worship, 10:30 am

Join us for the first Sunday of Lent.  This year's Lent theme is JOURNEY INWARD/JOURNEY FORWARD.  The idea is that discipleship is a journey that is first lived inward, introspectively, and then lived forward in service.  Worship this Sunday will include special music by a guest violinist.  Please note that the order of worship will change a bit during Lent with all announcements coming at the beginning of the service.  Thank you!

Adult Discussion Group

The group continues its series on grief and end-of-life planning.  Ron and Marilyn Scott will lead discussion of "Loss, Grief and Bereavement"-helping us find ways to deal with the loss of loved one.  You are welcome to attend.  The class meets form 9:00-10:20 in the Adult Conference Room.

Lenten Study 2010

This year's Lenten Study is "Gospel Portraits of Jesus".  It will explore the biblical names for Jesus and the titles for Jesus in the Gospels.  The class meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:30 for supper and 6:30-7:30 for the study.  Hand-outs for the class can be found here.  Please sign-up in advance so we know how many are coming for dinner.  You can sign-up here, in the Gathering Space, or contact Annie at pastor@faithdesperes.org.

Young Youth Bowling

Grades 3-6, join us on Saturday, February 27 from 4-6 pm at Epiphany Lanes, 3164 Ivanhoe Avenue, just south of Arsenal at I-44.  We have all 8 lanes reserved, so feel free to invite a friend.  There is no charge for the bowling, but if you want a snack from the snack bar bring some $$.  Please sign-up with Annie at pastor@faithdesperes.org.

Movie Night at the Church

Sign up in the Gathering Space for movie night, Friday, February 26 at 7:00 pm.  The movie is "Doubt".  Set in 1964, Doubt centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him of abusing a black student. He denies the charges, and much of the play's quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality, and authority.  The deadline for childcare reservations is Tuesday, 2/23; contact Annie at pastor@faithdesperes.org.  Bring food and drinks to share.
