2013 Women's Retreat

The 2013 women’s retreat is scheduled for October 19, 2013.  By popular demand, the leaders this year will be Jan Stocking and Diza Velasco who led our 2012 retreat at Mercy Center.  This year we will be going to Rockhaven Ecozoic Center near House Springs, MO, where Jan and Diza are co-directors.  This year the retreat will be a one day event, and the cost is $45.  Checks for the retreat may be made payable to Faith Des Peres with a notation that the funds are for the Women’s Retreat.

For those who prefer to stay overnight, arrangements can be made for the night of either the 17th or the 18th by contacting Jan@rockhavencenter.org. Cost for one night is $50. Overnight arrangements and payments should be made directly with Jan.

Have a Great Dinner!

Monday, November 4 at LoRusso's Cucina
For over 13 years, members of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy have visited Plan Grande 2 (PG2), Nicaragua, sharing meals and fellowship, developing friendships and growing a vital relationship.  For almost 10 years we have been helping the secondary students and their families with the expenses of attending school. On Monday, November 4th, the Rev. Doug Orbaker will speak at the annual Nicaragua Community Partnership (NCP) Fund-Raising Dinner to keep 45 Nicaraguan high school students in school and hear how God is transforming lives in PG2 and in St. Louis.  Tickets are $50 per person.  Sign up sheets are in the Gathering Space, call Marie in the church office, or contact Stephen Stolz or Harriet Hall and put the word “Dinner” in the subject line.

Special Worship Services in October

This Sunday, October 6, we’ll celebrate World Communion Sunday.  Our focus will be the story from Jeremiah that likens us to clay and God as a potter.  It talks about how God shapes us and molds us.  A real live potter (thanks, Eric Ludlow!) will throw a pot during the service.  We’ll see the story come alive before our very eyes!

On October 13, we’ll celebrate the baptism of Ellis Scott Ludlow, son of Eric and Sarah.  Please plan to be here for this special service in our life together.
