Adult Discussion Group

On October 6, Annie will lead the discussion on “Why We Do What We Do In Worship”.  Have you ever wondered why we do what we do in worship?  If so, now is the time to learn.  In this discussion, we’ll talk about why worship is structured like it is, why worship practices are changing, and how we decide what the right form of worship is for us.  Come and learn and share your thoughts!  ADG meets 9:00-10:15 a.m. in the Conference Room upstairs in the education wing.

Faith Des Peres Women’s Retreat 2013

The 2013 women’s retreat is scheduled for October 19, 2013.  By popular demand, the leaders this year will be Jan Stocking and Diza Velasco who led our 2012 retreat at Mercy Center.  This year we will be going to Rockhaven Ecozoic Center near House Springs, MO, where Jan and Diza are co-directors.  This year the retreat will be a one day event, and the cost is $45.  Checks for the retreat may be made payable to Faith Des Peres with a notation that the funds are for the Women’s Retreat. 

For those who prefer to stay overnight, arrangements can be made for the night of either the 17th or the 18th by contacting Jan@rockhavencenter.org.  Cost for one night is $50.  Overnight arrangements and payments should be made directly with Jan.

St. Louis CROP HUNGER WALK – Sunday, October 13

Join the Faith Des Peres team at the St. Louis CROP Hunger Walk, Sunday, October 13, at Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves (475 E. Lockwood Ave., 63119), to help end hunger one step at a time!  

You can join the FDP team by contacting Erica Abbett for a CROP Hunger Walk registration packet or by registering online here.  All walk participants must sign a waiver, which you can find online or attached to the registration packet.  You can also register the day of the walk.  Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.  The walk begins at 1:30 p.m.

Farewell to Suzanne & Welcome Marie!

Suzanne Mays’ last day as the Administrative Assistant for our church was September 30th.  We thank Suzanne for her wonderful dedication and service to Faith Des Peres these past 7 years and wish her well in the future.  She is deeply appreciative to all of you for your friendship and support as we have worked together on so many projects and ministries over these years.  “Many blessings to everyone!”

Marie Jakle joined us on October 2nd as the new Administrative Assistant. Marie feels very blessed to be here at Faith. She comes to us with a background of graphic and web design, secretarial experience, and church work. Her husband, Keith, is an IT specialist, and she has three grown children all in college at Truman State University in Kirksville. If you're at Faith during the week, please stop by to say "hello".

FALL-A-PALOOZA!! (Family Fall Festival)

Instead of Trunk-or-Treat this year, we're going to have some Family Fun at our FALL-A-PALOOZA! Join us on Sunday, October 27th from 3-5pm at the Old Meeting House for games, fun, candy, costumes, etc. Mark your calendars now and look for more information soon!
