Join Us for Worship this Sunday at 10:30!

All Saints’ Sunday is this Sunday. We’ll remember the faithful who have gone before us and honor departed loved ones. The book of Hebrews refers to saints as “the great cloud of witnesses.” Saints are the witnesses who surrounded us, encouraged us, and cheered us on to be faithful. They’re not necessarily people like Mother Theresa or Peter or Paul, people we can’t possibly be like. Usually they’re ordinary people who are trying to do right by the world and by God.  As a part of our observance, you’ll have an opportunity to remember the saints in your life. Join us for this special service.

Since this is a communion Sunday, there is no Sunday School for kids or tweens.  Don’t forget your food for “Feeding the Flock”!

Adult Discussion Group

The Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy has been active in mission in Central America for over thirty years. The latest mission engagement has been with Plan Grande 2, Nicaragua, a small community in northern Nicaragua which has received and sent delegations since 2000. This Sunday morning, November 3rd, during the Adult Discussion Group (9:00-10:15 in the conference room upstairs), Barbara Willock, who has been active in the partnership since that first trip, will share her experiences and ways in which members of the presbytery are participating in building deep and life-changing relationships.

On Sunday, November 17th, Joe Marting will be the speaker. You may be aware that Joe, who recently retired after some 30 years as Pastor of Southminster Presbyterian Church, has been worshiping with us. Joe, with his wife Lindsay and various members of their family, have been sitting near the rear of the sanctuary on the lectern side. If you have not met Joe, you will have an opportunity on November 17th, when he will lead the Adult Discussion Group. Joe has a long-time interest in Missouri history, and in particular Missouri Civil War history.  His topic on the 17th will be "Confessions of an Old Confederate."  You don't want to miss this opportunity!

Bring Your Food for Feeding the Flock this Sunday

“Feeding the Flock” for Circle of Concern begins this Sunday, November 3rd. Food collection will occur on the first Sunday of every month, coinciding with communion Sunday, and the children of the church will participate by collecting food products in a wagon during the service. Current critical needs include: canned meats, canned fish, canned fruit, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti sauce, cereal, toilet paper, and bar soap.  Thank you for helping others in need!
